We’ve got a serious case of good twin bad twin dynamics going on with the two things I selected from this collection. Since I’m a good news first type of person, I’m going to start by talking about the star of two.
If you’re at all familiar with the cushion delivery system for bb creams (which if you’re a regular reader here, you know I’m a big fan of) then you’ve got the concept for this product down. It’s a liquid blusher with sponge delivery system, applied with a silicone round puff. The formula is perfect for this set up, the blush is a sheer watery liquid that imparts a perfect natural flush on the cheeks. It has a slight dewy sheen that gives a lovely subtle glow. I chose shade PK001 which I absolutely love! It’s a lovely pink that’s not too bubble gum or too garish. This blush is extremely sheer when applied, I wouldn’t recommend it for nighttime but it’s perfect for daytime when you just want that hint of flush. I think the extremely pale skinned folks for which blush tends to run clownish would really appreciate this colour and formula. It gives you a sheer wash of pretty colour without being like “OMG look everyone! Someone punched me in my face with blush!”. The wear time is normal for me, but to be fair, I do not have oily skin. It lasted throughout the day though, the only time I noticed that it didn’t was on a particularly hot day when I walked 10 actual miles, but that’s a hell of a stress test for a product. The lone complaint I have about this blush is the packaging. It has a screw lid and I feel it would have been better suited to a flip top type compact like we see with BB cushions. The product itself is A+ for what it is, the packaging is a let down. The screw lid and plastic separater that this is housed in seems awkward, especially given that they did use the cushion eyeliner in this collection in a compact type package.
Which brings me over to this next nightmare of a product.
Etude House Lock’n Summer Proof 10 Cushion Lock’n Liner
Ugh, trash. I’m really hoping that I just got ahold of a faulty batch or something because the idea of Etude House releasing this into the buying public is embarrassing. This cushion liner comes with a brush and a miniature compact style case. The idea is novel, and should have been wonderful. A cushion eyeliner! I mean, c’mon, that sounds cool as hell. To bad it was a hot mess. I ordered shade BK801 DJ Black. By all accounts this should have been a lovely deep black, unfortunately the eyeliner I received doesn’t just drag on the eyelid when applied, it won’t even apply, period. I pressed a million times with increasing pressure into the cushion but try as I might, I could not get the brush (or any of my brushes) to pick up enough colour to apply to my eyelids. It applied somewhat on the back of my hand for swatches, but was a giant bust of nope when I tried to use it as it was intended. I was really disappointed and upset with this product. This is the first negative review I’ve given, so you know that this thing had to be particularly awful. The packaging and colour selection for this stuff was great too! Too bad the actual product was a dud.

Etude House Lock’N Summer Cushion Blusher gets a well deserved 4.5 turtles
Etude House Lock’N Summer Proof 10 Cushion Lock’n Liner doesn’t even deserve a turtle, it gets a turtle’s butt.

I heard that quite a few people received their cushion eyeliner almost dried out, could that possibly be the case for yours? Either way though I haven’t read any positive reviews on it so far. It seems a bit gimmicky, I’d rather stick to regular eyeliner pencils or pens- they’re much easier to apply anyways, and a lot more convenient. I don’t like the packaging of the blusher that much, but the color is very nice 🙂 It looks great on your skin tone. If you prefer the compact packaging, IOPE also has a cushion blusher with the same packaging as cushion foundations lol Thanks for the review Coco!
Thanks for reading!!
That blush packaging is my only complaint with that product, but maybe the screw top is what keeps is from drying out like the liner in the compact packaging did!
There was actually a recall on the eyeliners because of the cushion! Apparently the cushion really dried out the product and many many people have had this problem. You can contact the company for a refund I think.
I’m going to try to contact the seller today and hope they will because, ugh, what a waste!
This blush was a total flop for me. 🙁 I’m too dark for the coral one, and that means I’m definitely too dark for the pink one. Etude House hates us darkies, let’s be serious. *dramatic sigh*
Booooooo 🙁 I really wish they had more options for darker toned folks.
We should send each other the products that are too dark/light for each other lol.
The eyeliner looks horrible! ; ^ ;
Such a let down for Etude House! ; ~ ;
