KOREAN BEAUTY SECRETS: A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO CUTTING-EDGE SKINCARE AND MAKEUP

It’s officially official, we wrote a book! Like an actual one, that you can hold, and buy, and that would look so incredibly cute on your coffee table.

I’m going to take the words from my co-author and soul sister Kerry (Skin & Tonics), and let her give you her take on it before I put in my two cents 😀

“We set out to create a book that would be useful, interesting, and fun for complete newcomers to K-beauty as well as the more experienced, and I wholeheartedly believe we accomplished that task. It has everything you need to know to assemble a Korean style skincare routine, including :
• Detailed information on each skincare product categories
• How to assess and address your skincare needs
• Tips for determining layering order
• Shopping and ingredient cheat sheets organized by skin concern
• Ingredient definitions
• Detailed example skincare routines by several of our favorite bloggers
• Nearly 250 English-Korean ingredient translationsIt also features:• An amazingly thorough makeup section that provides detailed descriptions of all the different makeup categories
• Guides to achieving some truly beautiful Korean-inspired makeup looks.
• A lot of gorgeous photography

One area where Coco and I were particularly fortunate is that we were given full control over the book’s content and design. Being given design control is not typical in the traditional publishing industry, so this was a really big deal for us! Coco art directed the photoshoots, and I handled the layout and information design. We both developed the cover design. The finished product is a beautiful, glossy, full-color, hardcover. If you don’t want to wait for November to order it, you canpre-order it on Amazon and receive it the day it’s released (November 3, 2015).”

I’m so excited to introduce you guys to this book. It’s coming out in Nov, but like Kerry said above, it’s available on Amazon right now for preorder, which you can also access via the link on the sidebar of the homepage. I’ve rigorously tested these items (hello hot yoga class) and I adore them all. Another bonus to this selection of products is they are all self contained little wonders of beauty that require no brushes or additional tools to create a stunning, waterproof, lifeproof look that will serve you well on the beach or just out with friends on the town.

Clio Tinted Tattoo Kill Brow: Brows are everything right now, so why not showcase them with a product that’s as tough as it is beautiful. Clio Tinted Tattoo Kill Brow is a two in one tint and browcara that both fills and grooms your brows. Unlike some other brow stains and browcaras, Tinted Tattoo Brow Kill gives an extremely natural, soft look, all in one handy tube. I’ve chosen a versatile shade that could work with just about any hair colour, so chances are, this will work beautifully for you!

Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Shadow: These eyeshadow sticks are the handiest, easiest, most foolproof way to get gorgeous eyes. The smooth gel pencil texture is easily blended with your fingers (no brush needed!) to create a shimmering masterpiece. Once set, they don’t budge! Beer Pong is an incredibly versatile shade. I also love the sweet pink shade I’ve selected, as I’ve used it on many different skintones and it’s been pretty universally flattering. The pink gives you that “my lips but cuter” look that works for both day and night. Another thing I love is it’s precise application tip, which completely does away with the need for a lipliner!

Peripera Soft Touch Waterproof Lip & Eye Remover Tissue: With all of these amazing waterproof products, I can’t leave you hangin’ in the remover department! Whip out one of these soft babies to make short work of removing both lip and eye makeup. Very handy to keep in your bag, because you never know where this summer is going to take you!

AN UPDATE, LOVE, AND GRATITUDE

Hello Beauty Pups! I’ve missed writing here so much! I’ve been on the mend and I just wanted to give a small update to everyone. First of all, thank you so very much to those of you that helped, shared, and sent well wishes. I was beyond touched and have so much gratitude, thank you all so, so, so much. Truly, I love y’all. <3

My blockage was dislodged (god, I never ever ever want to go through that again!) and I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy. The endoscopy was clear, but the colonoscopy did come up with some polyps which were worrying. I don’t have the pathology report back yet, but my Dr did say I will have to have a colonoscopy every 3 years now since I’m way too young for polyps and they want to be on top of it incase the big C develops 🙁 It’s a scary thing to hear but I’m somewhat comforted by the idea that someone will hopefully be on the lookout for it. That’s why you shouldn’t be afraid of having a colonoscopy with an experienced professional such as Dr. Allen Kamrava, for example, as the peace of mind it can give you is far better than constantly feeling insecure about your health. My next appointment is May 6th. The specialist did have a diagnosis for me, severe complete bowel disease 🙁 Basically if you’ve ever heard of IBS it’s like that but a little more hardcore since it effects my liver and gallbladder as well (hence the fucky blood levels!). It’s an autoimmune disease and probably falls under the umbrella of my lupus, which isn’t shocking. Right now I’ve been put on a very restrictive, hopefully temporary diet, but I will have to be on a special diet for the rest of my life. It sucks and I will miss so much comfort food, but honestly, it’s a journey I’m ready to go on. Getting healthy and living clean is now not just some passing resolution, it’s going to have to become a lifestyle if I ever want to get strong and back to normal again. And you know what? If I’ve been applying this philosophy to my skincare then it’s only right that I do it for my body as well 😀 Since this elimination diet, I’ve started feeling slightly better, but it’s a learning process. Trying to get enough nutrients is a struggle. I’m feeling nowhere near 100% yet, but I am really working hard to get there and getting stronger every day! My bilirubin levels are down to a more acceptable level (29) but still elevated so I hope that everything will fall into it’s rightful place soon!

I love my husband, my friends, my family, my pets, and life in general. I love beauty and I even love ugly (one look at the weird collection of things in my home could tell you that, haha).
