MEMEBOX REVIEW

memebox

There seems to be a new subscription box company every time you turn around these days. I’d look over the reviews and just “meh” every one of them. I knew that it would be a waste of money to subscribe because 90% of the things they sent would just collect dust and take up valuable real estate in my makeup drawer. None of them ever appealed to my tastes. That is until now.

I have never gotten so worked up over a beauty box until I caught wind of the Memebox. Memebox is the #1 beauty box in Asia. For those of us with a serious addiction to Korean skincare and makeup, this is the box we’ve been waiting for. It’s also a great way for those of you who are just now discovering Korean beauty to get in on the ground floor with a wide variety of products to try each month for a nominal fee. What I really love about Memebox is it’s full of both high end favourites and little known hidden gems. There is something for the newbs as well as the old pros. And no matter how well versed you are in the Korean beauty scene, you almost always without fail discover something new through Memebox. They’ve done a wonderful job selecting products for each box and I’m always so excited to tear into these gorgeous beauties when they arrive. It’s way better than Christmas, because you never have to worry about this box ever containing socks from your Great Aunt Mildred. You’re pretty much guaranteed to find something you fall in love with each month. Memebox also has an online store, they carry products that are up to 80% off regular retail prices. I’ve also found that they carry things that a lot of other online stores don’t stock.Another plus to this is, it’s not a subscription box. You pay for the individual box you want. So say you want to skip a month, you simply just don’t put in an order for it. The only downside to that is, these boxes are immensely popular and they sell out super fast. So far a total of four boxes have been released and shipped. An additional three boxes were then announced and up for pre-sale. Every single one of the boxes are now sold out and they haven’t even begun shipping yet. So, editions #1-#7 are already gone! They regularly sell out a within a week of being announced! I waited a day too long and I’ve already lost out on box #7. I’m so irrationally upset about it lol. These boxes are highly coveted and people are desperate to get their hands on them. If that doesn’t speak to the quality of the products inside I don’t know what does.Today I’m going to show you a little peek inside the latest release, the 4th edition box.memeboxopen
As you can see upon opening the box there is a little card provided with English descriptions, instructions, and regular retail pricing for each item. Brilliant! Underneath that we get to the goodies, all gorgeously packed up and just waiting to be ripped into. Inside they have deluxe sample sizes along with full sized products.

I honestly love every single thing in here so far. There are some serious winners that I’m loving experimenting with. I was especially happy to see the inclusion of the Iope essence, the oils, and the Clio bb cream. Those are all things I had wanted to get my hands on at some point.

ROYAL GOLD RADIANT SERUM & ROYAL GOLD RADIANT CREAM REVIEW

royalgoldserumcream

Could someone be a dear and fetch me my crown? What’s what? I don’t have a crown? Well, I’ll settle for something luxurious containing pure gold. Royal Gold Radiant Serum and Radiant Cream you say? That’ll work.

Once again I found myself in a position reviewing something that has no real English information or ingredients list so these are my blind impressions. I’m going on pure feel and results, which I suppose one should always do. I guess it’s sort of like those dining in the dark restaurants that force you to savor your food without the influence of visual presentation.
I felt like Marie Antoinette using these products. Well, Marie in the height of her luxury. All of the decadence with none of the imprisonment or beheading. The serum is clear with a goldish tint thanks to the, you know, actual GOLD inside. You can visibly see the pure gold flakes suspended within.
royalgoldserum
It has a floral scent that smells very fancy. Really I can’t think of any other way to describe it. It’s just fancy! Even if you were handed this is a plain unmarked tube you would be able to pin this as a high end product. It has a very light texture that absorbs fairly quickly. There is seriously almost no information about this product out there, but from the description on the RoseRoseShop website, this serum is “anti-wrinkle/elastic skincare” which I assume means it addresses anti-aging concerns. Don’t think that relegates this to old ladies only, it’s never too early to start an anti-aging regime. Remember, it’s much easier to prevent damage than to reverse it.
Royalgoldcream
The Royal Gold Radiant Cream feels as fancy as it looks. It has the same floral scent that screams money, and a light airy texture. Again, and even more so than with the serum, you can see the pure gold flakes. It’s very light, it’s not at all a heavy or greasy moisturizer. It does not sit on your skin, it sinks in with minimal massaging. If you have very dry skin you may need a heavier cream than this, I think this would be best for normal to oilier skin types. Aside from gold containing anti-oxidants, I really don’t see exactly what the benefit of having it in your skincare is supposed to be. Some places claim that it stimulates circulation and regeneration but in such a small amount I’m not sure that it could do all of that. I will admit though, the gold gimmick makes this really fun to use. You can’t help but feel regal sitting at your vanity using these golden potions. Even without the inclusion of the gold, these are decent high end products. My skin stayed in the good condition it was in before I started testing them. I think I will find myself coming back to them especially during the warmer months, as they’re very light and refreshing.
Royal Gold Radiant Serum and Royal Gold Radiant Cream both get four little gilded turtles.

ROYAL GOLD RADIANT FOUNDATION REVIEW

ROYALGOLDFOUNDATIONAs my friends can attest to, I’ve always sent them to RoseRoseShop for the best prices and one of the largest selections of Korean cosmetics online. When they gave me the opportunity to review a brand new product, I was elated. When I got the package in the mail, I was floored!

I have an upcoming review for the Royal Gold skincare products, but right now I’m going to talk about the Radiant Foundation.

There is no English on the box aside from the name Royal Gold Radiant Foundation but from what my gorgeous translator tells me (ok, full disclosure: my translator is my husband, but he’s still easy on the eyes) the gist of it is this is a SPF 35 PA+++ , anti-wrinkle, whitening foundation, that leaves with skin with a clean soft feeling.

As you can see this is an elegant looking compact foundation with a typical, albeit lovely, gold sponge applicator, I was in no way prepared for what I discovered underneath.

RGcomWhen I first opened the compact, I literally gasped. In the most opulent display I’ve ever seen, there is a sheet of pure gold leaf covering the foundation. I stared at it for longer than I’d care to admit! It’s just so beautiful! I’m obsessed with metallics, especially gold, so this captured my heart straight away. After I finally brought myself to break through the gold leaf, I discovered a creamy balm type foundation underneath. The gold leaf does not transfer onto your face or anything, it pills up a little but you can just brush it away. It’s not a problem once you’ve swiped through the top layer.RGswatchUpon the first swipe onto my skin, I was sad to see it was a little too dark for me, however once I blended it in it adjusted nicely to my skin tone which is somewhere between a NC15 and NC20. I forgot to mention above, so far this is only available in two shades, 21 and 23. I received shade 21. I would say this would match someone between maybe NC15 and NC25, but would be most comfortable for the NC/NW 20-25s of the world. RGface
This is a foundation, not a bb cream, so it’s medium to heavier buildable coverage. If you like a fuller coverage compared to bb creams, this is definitely an indulgent option for you. The foundation glides on and sets into a semi matte, yet still radiant finish. It has a nice glow so it’s not completely matte, but it’s somewhat of an almost powdery cream feel once it’s set. It claims to be moisturizing and I guess you could say that, I didn’t find it particularly so, but it’s definitely not drying. This foundation has a floral perfume fragrance that’s very nice, it smells like the type of scent a luxe Queen’s products might contain. The wear time on it is really good. Admittedly I don’t have oily skin so I don’t have trouble with foundations slipping off my face, but I put this one on at 9am and when I removed my makeup at 9pm it was still there. As with all foundations, your mileage may vary.

I guess my sole complaint with this product is the sponge puff. It is so basic and does a poor job of evenly spreading the balm type foundation. Despite it’s beauty, the puff’s quality does not at all match up to the sheer opulence of the product contained underneath. However, that’s not too big of a deal and certainly not a deal breaker. If you have any other sponge, puff, beauty blender, or even brush you prefer, that would solve the problem.

If you fit within the limited two shade range, this would make a wonderful luxurious treat for yourself (you deserve it!). It would also make a great statement gift. It’s perfect for Mother’s Day, or a gift for your bestie’s birthday, or even a Valentine’s gift, especially if you wrapped it up along with a nice gold foundation brush and some chocolates 😉
Royal Gold Radiant Foundation get’s a 4.5 out of 5 sumptuous turtles.
