MISSHA M CREAM TENSION PACT REVIEW

Missha M Cream Tension Pact
You’ve got a drawer full of bb creams, you’ve got a little army of bb cushions, you might even have the odd metal cushion freedom fighter running around your makeup stash, but do you have a tension pact?

The Missha M Cream Tension Pact was something that immediately caught my eye while perusing one of my favourite shops, W2Beauty. I might have a slew of holy grails already, but for your sakes and mine, I am always on the hunt for the newest, best, and brightest products out there. Besides, you can never have too many paths to perfection!

What’s the difference between this Tension Pact and a traditional bb cushion? Unlike the BB cushions spongey centre, the Tension Pact has a fine, flexible, mesh screen; called a “Tension Net” in the middle of the pact. Missha M Cream Tension Pact screen
You simply dab your silicone pad onto the tension net, get the appropriate amount of product, and then pat it onto your skin like you do with any bb cushion. However, because the tension net is so finely woven, the product applies more evenly and naturally than with a sponge. You can see the fine mesh pattern here in the sponge with one quick dab:
Missha M Cream Tension Pact s

Here it is unblended, stamped on the back of my hand, as you can see the mesh pattern transfers (but it blends out, don’t worry)
Missha M Cream Tension Pact Stamp
It’s a really fun delivery system and I’m a fan! I would love to see more tension products!

The pact itself is the same size as other Missha cushions, but it has a gold metallic hinged lid, so it’s a touch fancier in packaging than the M cushion. And while I don’t see any refills online at this time, the pact looks as if it could be reused with other Missha cushions.
Missha Cream Tension Pact case
This product sadly only comes in three shades, as is the case with most Korean complexion products, and the shades offered are very limited. I’ve got a warmer skintone and am a 25 in Mac products so I chose shade #3 Glow Beige, which is not as dark as shade #2 Natural Beige and is much warmer then the cool toned shade #1 Pink Beige. If you regularly use Missha complexion products, they offer this information about shade selection.

#1.Pink Beige
If you used no.13 or bright no.21, you can this.

#2.Natural Beige
If you used dark no.21 or no.23, you can this.

#3.Glow Beige
If you used no.21 or middle-tone of no.23, you can this.

Missha M Cream Tension Pact Tones
Now the most important part, formulation. This cream itself is, great! It’s formulated with “silk amino acids to help retain skin’s elasticity” and contains “a formula that contains 50% moisturizing ingredients” Those ingredients include xylitol and hyaluronic acid. This is actually a very smart combination because xylitol can be used as a humectant. It’s also said to help the skin retain its natural moisture and boost it’s own levels of hyaluronic acid, a natural lubricant that assists in collagen production. Xylitol is also thought to improve the skin’s barrier function and increase ceramide (a natural hydrating compound) synthesis. So you hit that with the additional hyaluronic acid in the formula and it’s aces,  and it sure does work nicely. The ingredients to the pact are listed here on Cosdna, it’s a very interesting formula, with no irritants or acne triggers,  I’m pretty impressed http://www.cosdna.com/eng/cosmetic_fbf5200670.html

My skin is going through a particularly dry spell right now with the season change, and this pact is a nice soothing addition to my makeup routine. However, I would say as long as your skin isn’t crazy oily, you could use this product with ease. Normal to slightly oily skins could still enjoy this in the dry fall and winter seasons. The coverage is also nice, like I mentioned before it applies very evenly and does a great job evening out skintone and covering minor blemishes. It dries to a nice semi-matte finish but with a hint of glow.

All in all I am a big fan of this product and highly recommend it should you fall into the very narrow shade range.

KOREAN BEAUTY SECRETS: A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO CUTTING-EDGE SKINCARE AND MAKEUP

KBSTBW
It’s officially official, we wrote a book! Like an actual one, that you can hold, and buy, and that would look so incredibly cute on your coffee table.

I’m going to take the words from my co-author and soul sister Kerry (Skin & Tonics), and let her give you her take on it before I put in my two cents 😀

We set out to create a book that would be useful, interesting, and fun for complete newcomers to K-beauty as well as the more experienced, and I wholeheartedly believe we accomplished that task. It has everything you need to know to assemble a Korean style skincare routine, including :
• Detailed information on each skincare product categories
• How to assess and address your skincare needs
• Tips for determining layering order
• Shopping and ingredient cheat sheets organized by skin concern
• Ingredient definitions
• Detailed example skincare routines by several of our favorite bloggers
• Nearly 250 English-Korean ingredient translationsIt also features:• An amazingly thorough makeup section that provides detailed descriptions of all the different makeup categories
• Guides to achieving some truly beautiful Korean-inspired makeup looks.
• A lot of gorgeous photography

One area where Coco and I were particularly fortunate is that we were given full control over the book’s content and design. Being given design control is not typical in the traditional publishing industry, so this was a really big deal for us! Coco art directed the photoshoots, and I handled the layout and information design. We both developed the cover design. The finished product is a beautiful, glossy, full-color, hardcover. If you don’t want to wait for November to order it, you canpre-order it on Amazon and receive it the day it’s released (November 3, 2015).

I’m so excited to introduce you guys to this book. It’s coming out in Nov, but like Kerry said above, it’s available on Amazon right now for preorder, which you can also access via the link on the sidebar of the homepage. I’m so proud of everything and I’d like to give a special shoutout to the stellar team we put together to bring you this baby. Truly, it was a labor of love, and I think you might love it just as much as we do.And like I said, it’s going to set your coffee table off so very nice 😉

MISSHA 2015 M MAGIC CUSHION REVIEW

misshaMmagiccushionI had the opportunity to test drive Missha’s new M Magic Cushion BB over the past month, and it’s been a delight! If you’re familiar with Missha’s BB cream selections, you know that they offer good, buildable coverage, without being overly cakey or sticky. Missha’s M Perfect Cover was actually the first BB cream I ever tried, so Missha will always have a special place in my heart.

This is Missha’s first proper BB cushion, so I was very excited. Before this I had been making my own Missha cushions with their Magic Cushion Case (which is a very handy little thing btw, you can make a cushion out of any of your favourite bb creams or even your sunblock!). What I really like about this newest cushion is the finish. It strikes the perfect balance between matte and dewey. A lot of complaints I get from my oily skinned friends and readers, is that they find a lot of BB cushions to be either sticky and dewey, and that that really isn’t congruent with a good experience for their oily skin. This is cushion is the answer to that. And dry skins you aren’t left out either! This cushion contains some really excellent ingredients like baobab fruit extract, witch hazel extract, and bamboo water. The coverage is medium, and makes short work of small imperfections and evens out skin tone wonderfully. Here’s a super close up of it on my skin with no filters or photoshop.

MisshaMMagicCushionswatchI really like this cushion for the matte, and quasi-matte looks that are gaining popularity right now in the world of makeup. As a matter of fact, I liked it so much that I used this cushion on our models during photoshoots for our book. One of the models, my beautiful sister in law Hana, wanted to take the cushion I used on her home. She was matched with shade #21, which was a perfect match for her tone, which is neutral and fair. Here’s Hana at the photoshoot wearing the M Magic Cushion with some Volumer around her cheeks, nose bridge, and forehead
misshamagicMcushionhana

She actually reached out to me two weeks later and raved about how much she loved it. She said she prefers it over her old Hera BB Cushion and that the M Magic Cushion matched her skin a lot better, didn’t cake like the Hera did, and that she feels like her skin breathes better under this one. I think she means it’s a lot less thick than her old cushion. I know exactly what she’s talking about, your skin feels incredibly smooth and clean after applying this BB. It leaves your skin feeling softer than before you applied your makeup, what a rarity!  I’m sure that all those nice emollients in the ingredients have a lot to do with it. My sister in law has oily to normal skin and I have dry to normal and we both really loved this product equally! I chose the #23 shade for myself since it’s summer and I tend to shade up during this time of year. This BB applies slightly orange at first but worry not, it soon oxidizes into the perfect shade. It doesn’t have that sickly grey cast that some BBs have, nor the ultra pink cast that’s sometimes common. I’d say it’s a warm that skews neutral. Another thing I really enjoy is the smell of this product. It smells so clean! It has the same scent as a nice cleanser, which I find really refreshing as it’s getting hotter outside. With it’s skin beneficial ingredients, low acne triggers, and it’s brilliant sweet spot finish, this cushion is my new summer crush. Love it!
This cushion officially launches at http://www.misshaus.com/ on May 26th! I highly recommend it!

Klairs Be Clean Manuka Honey and Chocolate Body Soap

In that same article I raved about the Shea Terra chocolate scrub, I also talked about this wonderful Klairs soap. I love the hearty chocolate cereal smell.  I can also attest to it’s lasting power. After several months of using this soap, the bar has hardly shrank. This is a high quality milled soap, it’s lasted much longer than my Lush soaps, and leaves my skin clean without feeling stripped. WHAT THE BEAUTY BLOGGERS USE: FEATURING CHARLOTTE CHO OF SOKOGLAM

We write, we curate, we cull the herd, we try it all, we pare it down, we’re always searching for the standout stars. Do you ever wonders what the bloggers themselves are using? I’ve rounded up my favourite ladies in the game and asked them about their personal line-ups and thoughts on skincare!
CharlotteCho
Today I’m featuring Charlotte Cho, the brains (and absolute beauty!) behind Soko Glam. The write up on Soko Glam says it all:
Soko Glam is dedicated to discovering Korean cosmetics & beauty trends. With our thoughtfully curated selection from the most innovative and trusted brands, we invite you to explore Korea’s best in beauty.”

I’m a huge fan of Charlotte, she’s been featured in several well known publications and curates the Soko Glam online boutique. With her flawless skin and classic beauty, you can’t look at her without thinking “Giiiirl, what are you using? Because I want to look like that.”

I started by asking what she uses in her morning routine. She let us know that recently it consists of:

charlotteAM
Shingmulnara: Ultra Light Sun Gel SPF 30 PA++ (this was featured in the Get K-Beauty Box)
I then asked her to let us in on what she uses for her nighttime routine. She let me know that the evening is the time when she tests new products so it’s ever changing (I think this is the case with most of us beauty bloggers!) Currently she’s using:
charlottePM
Skinfood Lemon Brightening Cleansing Oil
Su:m37 Rose Cleansing Stick
Missha Super Aqua Hydrating Toner
Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel
Banila Co Brightening It Radiant Cream
Su:m37 Water-full Cream

I also wanted to pick her brain and find out what her favourite beauty products are right now. Charlotte always looks so put together and cute, so I was especially interested in these answers!
charlotteproducts
Charlotte says:

IOPE water fit lipstick, because Jeonjihyun is my spirit animal (and it’s super moisturizing).
Clio Waterproof Pen Liner – I never liked liquid eyeliner until I used this one. It’s a game-changer!
Tony Moly Petite Bunny Lip gloss for cuteness and a sheer tint!
The secret to the glow-y dewy face without looking too shiny? A good sheer highlighter makes my face glow (in a matte) type of way?

I then wanted to know if she had any other beauty recommendations, any tools or anything that didn’t quite fall into the skincare of makeup category.
Charlotte says:

“I have a lot of annoying baby hairs so this bow hair pad is everything!”
http://sokoglam.com/collections/hair-body/products/lioele-pink-hair-pad
(The Beauty Wolf says: I know that pain all too well, baby hair club unite. Those little things are super useful when you’re doing masks or your routine!)

The one thing I’m always curious about is how people get into the game. Whenever I get a chance, I love to find out more about these self starters who’ve gone onto success. It’s one thing to toy around with the idea, and a whole other to try to make it happen. So I asked, what was the catalyst that propelled her from just daydreaming about it to actually doing it?

Charlotte says:
My husband Dave and I loved living in Korea and we have always been very passionate about the people and the culture. It was the perfect opportunity to share with the rest of the world one of the things Korea does best – skincare and cosmetics! It really wasn’t easy leaving stable careers and taking this leap into entrepreneurship, but I’m so glad we did.
Finally, I asked her what she thought the future held for her, and what her thoughts were on what she’s doing now:

Charlotte says:
I want to keep doing what I am passionate about: testing and curating Korean beauty products and making the discovery process enjoyable for others!
In the past year, I started receiving emails from people who have experienced positive results after trying out my 10-step Korean skincare routine. Knowing I made an impact on someone’s confidence and skin has been incredibly rewarding which made me decide to go back to school to become a certified esthetician! I’m not sure what the future holds for me, but I’m truly grateful to be part of this journey and happy about where I am now.

So there you have it folks, a peek behind the curtain at one of the best out there. Thank you so much Charlotte for participating, it was a pleasure!

Who else would you guys like to see featured? Let me know in the comments below 🙂
