INNISFREE NEON COLOR POT ROUGE REIVEW

Innisfree neon color pot rouge
I’m starting to lose my mind here because it’s the end of March and we’ve had snowstorm after snowstorm, with no hint of Spring.  So, I’m just going to take matters into my own hands and inject some Spring into my life with these cheerful little Neon Color Pots from Innisfree. Available in four shades, I chose #2 Cherry Pink. It’s a wonderfully vibrant blue based neon pink. Really every shade option offered is bright, gorgeous, and en trend right now. They’re the perfect counter to this unseasonably dreary weather. The photo below is very true to colour.
INNISFREE NEON COLOR ROUGE POT SW

Innisfree Neon Color Pot Rouge is a 2 in 1 product (that I would argue could conceivably be considered a 3 in 1 product if used like this) meant to be used as either a blush or a lip colour. Personally, I say it functions much better as a blush. Due to it’s powdery nature, it does cling like mad to any dry flakes or cracks in the lips. But that’s not to say this is too powdery and dry to blend well. It actually blends great! I think that’s due to the inclusion of Camellia oil, which is a great emollient high in omega-9 fatty acids. And while the colour is bright and vibrant, it does it without being too overpowering and clownish. It’s a great way to work in a pop of beautiful, eye catching, but not overboard colour into your look.

This product is great for quick looks as well. One day I was running low on time and threw this on as a blush and lipstick (it works better if you put on a lip balm base first) with some Tony Moly Backstage Gel Eyeliner and it looked great. I got compliments on it at two different locations. It’s also small so you can throw it in your makeup bag without any worry for touchups. As a blush this lasted throughout the day for me, as a lipstick it did need several touchups but it was cute enough to justify the hassle. Also, if you’re not a fan of the matte lip, just mix some clear gloss on your hand with a swipe of this rouge to get yourself a custom lipgloss. You could also mix this with a dab of your concealer to make a pretty pastel pink. It’s very versatile! It’s also about half of the cost of the more expensive 3CE’s version of this product.

I love the colour payoff, blend-ability, feel, convenience, versatility, and longevity of this little pot. I want to put in an order for every other colour they offer now!
I rate the Innisfree Neon Color Pot Rouge 4 out of 5 turtles

TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL PUDDING AQUA SHAKING BB REVIEW

TooCoolForSchool Pudding Aqua Shaking BB

I’m back with one more Too Cool For School review!
Since my last review was Too Cool For School After School Foundation Lunchbox, I say we cap off these reviews with some dessert. Pudding to be exact. Today we’re looking at the Pudding Aqua Shaking BB Cream SPF 40. I had a theory about this product that I wanted to test out so I picked one up to see if I was correct. I’ll get to that later.

At this point do I even need to mention the adorable packaging? Actually, I don’t care, I’m going to anyway. Adorable. Packaging.

Another thing I’d like to praise is the inclusion of a really awesome beauty blender in the package! They refer to it as a Marshmallow Puff, but it’s really just a white dupe of a beauty blender. It’s soft and when it’s damp it applies this stuff like a champ. I even used it for my other Too Cool For School foundation. They were also thoughtful enough to include a spatula for this BB cream since it’s in a jar. They’ve really thought of everything here and I really love Too Cool For School’s attention to detail and foresight in regards to their products.

This product comes in only two shades (C’mon Korean companies, get it together.) I went with the lightest shade this time, #1 ,which it says is “suitable for people with bright skin tone, it makes you skin look brilliant and vitalized”. Shade #2, according to the description, is a beige tone that’s geared toward neutralizing redness. I do have to admit, shade #1 did actually add some brightening to my NC20 skin. I think pale people would appreciate this colour. It’s light and bright without being pink.
The formula claims to be 70% moisture but this is not dewy at all. This is a matte finish. I appreciate that it manages to be matte without being dull. That’s not always an easy feat. Also, while this claims to be moisturizing, it does still cling to dry patches and flakes, as is the case with almost all mattes. Make sure you have exfoliated and are starting off with as smooth of canvas as possible.  I think that oily skinned folks will like this formulation as well since it sits very cleanly on the face and does not cause any additional oil build up. Also, big ups to the addition of the SPF 40, high SPFs always make me happy! The coverage is light to medium and below is an unedited closeup in bright sunlight.

The thing I wanted to test out with this BB is how it compared to Holka Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB. My theory was that it would be the superior of the two. I found Aqua Petite Jelly to be absolute trash on my skin. It clung to every flake and sat chalky and sad on my face. While I don’t have my Aqua Petit Jelly anymore to do a direction comparison (I threw it out), I can say that yes, for me this is absolutely superior to Holika Holika’s Jelly BB. While this can still cling to dry skin, it’s not near as bad as the Jelly. I just feel like this is a much better formulated product. Another small thing I didn’t notice at first until I was directly in the sunlight looking with my magnifying mirror, this has the tiniest micro sparkles in it. I think that’s how they manage to pull off the brightness while being a matte.

All in all this is a nice product, and once again Too Cool For School impresses me. I’m not much of a matte face person, but on the rare days I want that look this will be my #1 choice! I’m impressed that they managed to formulate this in a way that both oily and non oily skins could comfortably use the product.

TO COOL FOR SCHOOL AFTER SCHOOL BB FOUNDATION LUNCH BOX REVIEW

too cool for school lunchbox bb
Today’s product is quite the mouthful, given that it’s called a “foundation lunchbox” I suppose that’s in keeping with the theme.
The After School BB Foundation Lunchbox is one of the cleverest products I’ve seen lately. The concept is it’s an all in one bento box of beauty for your face. You have your jar of bb cream with a screw top, but contained within the lid is a flip top revealing concealer and a highlighter.

I was afraid that with an all in one product like this that they would drop the ball somewhere. I went into this thinking “this looks really neat but I bet that concealer and highlighter are garbage”. I was so wrong!

The BB is a lovely consistency. As you can see in the picture, it has a little built in paddle in the lid to scoop out product. I swiped it across my hand and applied it with a beauty blender, which worked really well. This only comes in two colours and each colour is a different formulation (I know, I don’t even understand). I went with #2 Moist Skin which is the darker of the two. I can’t imagine this working for anyone darker than NC25, but I can’t say for sure. This is a thick creamy BB but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly moisturizing on it’s own. It is nice though, and as a dry to normal skin I really like it. The concealer is also creamy, and works surprisingly well on my dark circles. Like I said, I didn’t have high hopes for this but it definitely exceeded by expectations and then some. The real surprise for me was the highlighter! It’s been well established that I’m a glow junkie, and this highlighter performed well enough to earn a “oh damn, NICE!” from me when I first put it on. It’s not crazy perfect or anything, but it certainly does everything I expect and demand out of my highlighters. This could be your perfect product for travel. Especially for things like weekend trips where you don’t want to transport a whole lot of makeup but you still want to be on point for your day to day. I love this little lunchbox! The packaging is adorable, it’s a good quality product, and the highlighter performs! All around win!

ETUDE HOUSE COLOR LIPS-FIT REVIEW

etudehousecolorlipsfit

Is it a lipstick? Is it a tint? Is it a gloss? I suppose it’s a little of everything. Color Lips Fit is the latest lip release from Etude House. It’s a liquid lip colour that has to be shaken before use. Once applied it dries to a powdery matte finish. There are seven shades available, along with a clear glossy topcoat. I chose shades PK003 Fantasy Fit Pink and BR101 See-Thru Fit Beige. (A choice I both congratulate and hate myself for, more on that below).
etudehousecolorlipsfitswatch

When they say dries to a matte finish, they aren’t messing around. This dries completely matte and powdery. You better have an absolutely perfect canvas to work with here because these things cling and accentuate any little bit of dryness or cracks you may have. The formula is super watery almost like a tint, but the colour is very rich and vibrant with just one coat. You can do a second coat with no problem if you do so before they have dried and set. But a word of warning, do not accidentally get any in your mouth or on your tongue before it dries, it tastes like bug spray! Fantasy Fit Pink is my definite favourite between the two shades I got. It’s beautiful! It really lends itself well to the bare faced with bright lips look that’s popular in Korea right now. It also makes a pretty gradient lip look with concealer mixed with the beige colour.
etudehousecolorlipsfitswatch2

See Thru-Fit Beige on it’s own was a total miss with my complexion. It looked less like the pretty nude I expected and more like baby shit mustard colour on me in the sunlight. The fact that I was accidentally sent two of them makes it extra sad (Oh well, it might make it’s way into a future giveaway 😉 ). I’m sure it would look great on someone else though! The wear time is pretty good with these, there is a bit of transfer before drying, but they won’t stain a wineglass once set. My biggest complaint for this formulation is the nasty taste and the way it can really settle into cracks. I love the matte look but this one calls for a glossy top coat to completely stop that nonsense. The available colours are really great for spring and will integrate well into your summer makeup. They’re also only about $9 so it’s not a huge gamble. I’m going to go with 3.5 out of 5 turtles for Etude House Color Lips Fit.

3 CONCEPT EYES LIP LACQUER REVIEW

3celiplaquer
After weak performances from the previous 3 Concept Eyes products I tested, I finally found one that really hit the mark. 3 Concept Eyes Lip Lacquer comes in wide, fun, variety of shades but I chose the neutral (but leaning toward coral) shade Bon Bon. So many beauty bloggers seem to love that particular colour so I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype.
3celiplaquerswatch2 copy
The first thing I noticed was how dead on the swatches from the website were compared to the actual product. If only I could say the same thing for their highlighters. The lip lacquer’s formula feels like it’s somewhere between a stain and an enamel. It doesn’t quite stain or tint your lips but it has that almost powdery tint feeling but with the a slight kick of shine and a cream finish. That being said, this is not forgiving to dry lips. Make sure you’re working with an exfoliated and moisturized canvas because the finish of this product will cling to any dry flakes.
3celaquerswatch

The colour Bon Bon really is gorgeous, I can see why it’s a favourite. It’s the funnest neutral I’ve encountered in a long while. Depending on your skin tone this would make a great soft lip to pair with smokey eyes or a bright pop to pair with a neutral eye. At NC20, I’m somewhere right in between. This shade could go either way on me depending on what makeup look I’m coupling it with, and that’s awesome.

The wear time is average. It does transfer some but doesn’t melt off your lips the way a gloss does. As long as you’re not eating, this isn’t going to just disappear. Although the finish is slightly creamy, this is definitely not moisturizing, so if you’re in a dry climate this might dry you out. Be sure to have a balm handy. The lacquer is highly pigmented and covers in just one coat. This is a high quality product and it’s gorgeous to boot! I would love to explore the other shades available because this one performed so well for me.
I’m going to give 3 Concept Eyes Lip Lacquer in Bon Bon 4.5 out of 5 turtles.
