3 CONCEPT EYES LIP LACQUER REVIEW

3celiplaquer
After weak performances from the previous 3 Concept Eyes products I tested, I finally found one that really hit the mark. 3 Concept Eyes Lip Lacquer comes in wide, fun, variety of shades but I chose the neutral (but leaning toward coral) shade Bon Bon. So many beauty bloggers seem to love that particular colour so I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype.

The first thing I noticed was how dead on the swatches from the website were compared to the actual product. If only I could say the same thing for their highlighters. The lip lacquer’s formula feels like it’s somewhere between a stain and an enamel. It doesn’t quite stain or tint your lips but it has that almost powdery tint feeling but with the a slight kick of shine and a cream finish. That being said, this is not forgiving to dry lips. Make sure you’re working with an exfoliated and moisturized canvas because the finish of this product will cling to any dry flakes.

The colour Bon Bon really is gorgeous, I can see why it’s a favourite. It’s the funnest neutral I’ve encountered in a long while. Depending on your skin tone this would make a great soft lip to pair with smokey eyes or a bright pop to pair with a neutral eye. At NC20, I’m somewhere right in between. This shade could go either way on me depending on what makeup look I’m coupling it with, and that’s awesome.

The wear time is average. It does transfer some but doesn’t melt off your lips the way a gloss does. As long as you’re not eating, this isn’t going to just disappear. Although the finish is slightly creamy, this is definitely not moisturizing, so if you’re in a dry climate this might dry you out. Be sure to have a balm handy. The lacquer is highly pigmented and covers in just one coat. This is a high quality product and it’s gorgeous to boot! I would love to explore the other shades available because this one performed so well for me.
I’m going to give 3 Concept Eyes Lip Lacquer in Bon Bon 4.5 out of 5 turtles.

TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL DINOPLATZ LIP BALM REVIEW

toocoolforschooldinoplatzlipbalm

Ok, I can’t even front, I’m in love with this little lip balm.
I absolutely love lip balms. They keep my mouth healthy and stop my lips from getting too dry, and some of them are even infused with cold sore medicine that can help to treat and prevent cold sores.
Too Cool For School is a brand that’s known firstly for it’s cute packaging, kind of like Etude House. But there’s a big difference between the two. If Etude House is for the princesses of the world than Too Cool For School is for the artsy cool kids. Etude House doesn’t kiss on the first date, Too Cool would ask you if you’d like a drink from their flask. Both are undeniably cool and cute, just on opposite ends of the spectrum.

I chose the shade Spilled Wine. This is also available in three other shades, Beet Jam, Rabbit Food, and Peach Melba. Right away I was taken with the packaging design. I love it. (Hello! Disembodied dinosaurs? Yes pls.) It comes in a match box-esque cardboard sleeve that reveals the awesome minimalist tin of lip balm inside.
toocoolforschooldinoplatzlipbalmswatch2

The balm itself is a jelly type lip gloss that spreads easily with your finger. The colour reminds me of a much cooler, updated, and subtler version of Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. It’s a very sheer but still noticeable pop of wine on the lips. Speaking of wine, this is my new favourite lip choice for nights when I’m drinking actual red wine. Since you already know you’re probably going to get that annoying wine ring on your lips, might as well use this little wine gloss to camouflage it/play off of it.

The wear time is typical of light balm type glosses, which is to say not long at all. It’s great for dry lips as it has a jelly texture. Still, this won’t replace your non-cosmetic lip balm if you have ultra dry lips. All in all, like I said when I opened the review, I love this product. I put it directly in my purse’s makeup bag upon first try. That’s the equivalent of Johnny Carson inviting a comedian to sit down after a set. I almost never do that. A product has to really wow me to get that coveted purse spot.
As you can probably guess, I give Too Cool For School’s Dinoplatz Lip Balm in Spilled Wine 5 out of 5 tipsy turtles

ETUDE HOUSE SOFT TOUCH AUTO LIP LINER REVIEW

etudehouselipliner

I’ve been really into lip heavy looks lately. It’s a big change from the super neutral mouth I’ve been sporting since, well, forever. After years of just tracing my lips with a nude coloured pencil to stop feathering, it dawned on me that I needed a lipliner to compliment these new bolder lipsticks I’ve been favouring. So, I went out in search of the best ones to bring back to you guys.

Etude House Soft Touch Auto Lip Liner is exactly what it says it is, an automatic lip liner. I love these so much more than pencil liners. It seems so archaic to drag out a sharpener and crank a pencil through it. What really sold me on the Soft Touch Auto Liners is that they are fully retractable! No more swiveling up a liner too high only to have it break off because you can’t retract it back to a more manageable size. The mechanism is extremely smooth and has never given me a problem.

Soft Rose and Milky Brown are the two shades I picked up to try. Both are great colours that could be used with a lot of different lipstick and glosses I have. The formulation is extremely nice. These are neither chalky nor dry. Unlike some dry pencil liners, these glide on and never drag. You could pretty much wear them alone on top of a lip balm if you wanted to. They apply easily, smoothly, and wonderfully. The wear time is the same as any other lipliner, it lasts as long as you want it to as long as you’re not eating or kissing someone. My only complaint with these are the limited shade selections available. There are only five shades and they are mostly earthy neutral sort of tones. Other than that though these are great! I’m very impressed, especially considering how ridiculously cheap they are. They can be had for under five dollars on ebay here

and the various online Korean cosmetic stores. I think these great little liners deserve 4.5 out of 5 turtles.

ETUDE HOUSE MINNIE KISSING LIPS LIPSTICK AND XOXO MINNIE NAIL POLISH REVIEW

minnieThis is a mini Minnie Mini review. Ha, I saw the chance and had to run with it, forgive me.

A few months ago the Korean brand Etude House released a collection featuring the ever fashionable Minnie Mouse. As part of the collection they offered up two lipstick and nail polish shades. #01 Mini Red and #02 Bubble Pink. I went with #01 Mini Red for both and wow, am I ever glad I did.
This is a knockout blue based dark vibrant red that is far sexier than anything I would expect from the adorable cutesie packaging. We’re talking way more Jessica Rabbit territory here rather than Minnie Mouse. So, all in all, if you are tempted to channel one of the animated stars of an adult website such as https://www.cartoonporno.xxx/ this could be the perfect lipstick for you. Everyone deserves to try on a sexy makeup look once in a while after all.lipsThe lipstick is outstanding. The colour is just to die for. I like it much better than Mac’s RiRi Woo (sorry Rihanna, Minnie slays you here) or Russian Red. It’s a warm toned blue red that doesn’t have any real pink in it no matter how lightly you apply it. I really dislike buying a red lipstick only to discover it reads as magenta as it fades. This colour stays true. The formulation is very much on par with high end department store brands. Don’t be fooled by plastic packaging and cartoon exterior, this stuff is lush and gorgeous. It doesn’t bleed into fine lines and it’s pretty moisturizing without being tacky or sticky. The staying power is pretty good and definitely doesn’t melt off your lips in an ugly way like some do. As with most red lipsticks this might stain your lips a little until you use makeup remover at the end of the night to properly remove all traces of your day. Red is still a huge lipstick trend and every person that wears makeup needs to own a good red. For me, this red isn’t just good, it’s perfect.nailsThe nail polish of the same name is very much in keeping with the true blue dark red. It’s such a beautiful statement colour, especially paired with the matching lips. The swatch on the left is of my nails and the one on the right is from the Etude House website, it’s true colour is somewhere in between the two. Definitely not as oxblood as the right swatch but a little deeper than the left. I never thought I’d call anything branded with Minnie Mouse sultry, but this certainly is. As far as it’s durability I really couldn’t say with any honesty. I just broke this stuff open for the first time yesterday and I change my polish once a week. I’ll edit this post later if any major chipping becomes apparent before the week is up.

Thanks to the brilliant shade, price, and formulations, I can’t help but give this mouse five turtles.
