PREGNANCY SKINCARE GUIDE: THE FIRST TRIMESTER

pregnancy-skincare-guide
If you follow me on Instagram, you may know that my husband and I welcomed our second (enormous 10.2 pound) child 7 weeks ago. Throughout my pregnancy, I made note of my routine and documented the changes in my skincare regime as time passed. Now that I’ve come through to the postpartum side, I’ve broken down my changing routines for each trimester. Today is the first in a three-part series.

Pregnancy is a time to really pause and take stock of the self-care and pampering you can do for yourself. You’re forced to slow down in almost every area of your life, and there can be a real beauty in that. During pregnancy, you’re hyper-aware of everything going on in your body, and there are challenges that come with each trimester. But the most important thing to realize is that this is your time, things are about to get chaotic, so please indulge yourself. You’re growing a whole other human in your body, pamper yourself! You deserve this, mama! If you’re experiencing a pregnancy currently, please take this as a hint to slow down and take time to care for yourself. However, if there are women here who are struggling to get pregnant, don’t worry. These days, there are a lot of things that can be used to increase your chances of getting pregnant. For example, by using some ovulation strips from Countrywide Testing (learn more here), women can find out when they’re ovulating, increasing their chances of conceiving and becoming pregnant. Hopefully, that will help you to become a mother! But, be prepared for the side effects of pregnancy!

First Trimester:
Ugh, this might just be the worst time. You’re beyond exhausted, everything makes you sick, and you have no idea why. You are keenly aware of how long the road ahead of you is, and you might feel discouraged and just plain yucky. You still look the same, but my god, you do not feel the same. The first trimester is when I had to seriously alter my routine because of severe morning sickness. Scents that I usually tolerated or even loved were just too much for me. I gagged at just about everything. I had to seriously scale back and go super boring. However, boring can still be effective, and you can still sneak in some much-needed pampering.
pregnancy-guide-cleansers
Cleansers:
Foaming:
I had to forgo my usuals and go back to basics with the CerAve Foaming Facial Cleanser. The reason? It’s pretty much fragrance-free, it has the proper 5.5 pH we all know and love, and it gets the job done efficiently while being exceptionally mild.
Grab your CerAve in a two pack at Amazon here or as an add on item for only $8 here
Also available for a great price at Ulta hereOil/Sherbet:
Trying to find a fragrance free or lightly scented oil cleanser was a harder job, I had to just find a scent I was OK with and go from there. I ended up using the old school standard Banila Co Clean It Zero balm, which is good, but no longer a favourite of mine as the market has exploded with great, new, innovative, cleansers since then. But Clean it Zero didn’t smell offensive, and it got the job done, which is all you want when you’re dying to sleep and not throw up again.

Toner: Same criteria for cleansers, please don’t stink, and please work nicely. What fit the bill? Nooni Sprout Smoothing Toner. This is a great little basic toner that contains some wonderful natural ingredients and reminds me a bit of the Mizon AHA BHA toner in terms of effectiveness (remember, the AHA BHA toner does not actually exfoliate). While not entirely without fragrance, the Nooni Sprout Smoothing Toner has a very delicate fresh scent that disappears almost immediately upon application. It’s a great option for people with sensitive skin and I enjoyed using it. It can be difficult knowing what toners are best for exfoliating and what is best in general for the health of your skin, especially through pregnancy; you can learn more when you visit blog.reneerouleau.com. This is useful information for all skin types and for all people wondering how to improve their skin properly, whether pregnant or not.

Acid:
Consult your doctor before using acids during pregnancy. I’ve heard varying things from various doctors, but personally, my doctor said a BHA 2% and below would be safe, so I went with that. (and my son is just fine, so I guess it really was safe for me). I used Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant all over my face at night to treat the very mild breakouts I was having. I didn’t want to stress my skin or moisture barrier too much so I left it at that. What I love about the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, is the addition of green tea extract to soothe and the Methylpropanediol which helps the BHA penetrate while leaving your skin feeling moist. That’s an important feature to someone with dry skin sitting around for the allotted 10-20 minutes you have to wait for it to work before proceeding on with the rest of your routine. Without that, I’d dry up like a mummy. There is also a gel version that a lot of oilier skin folks love. After the BHA I’d try to get my pamper on by slipping on a sheet mask. My favourite was Soo Ae Freeset Donkey Milk Skin Gel Mask Aqua. Free of harsh fragrance and full of a buffet of excellent skincare ingredients. It both relaxed me, and gave me another 20 minutes of laying in my bed before getting up and having to complete the rest of my routine. Yes, the mask and BHA added another 40 minutes to my routine, but that was 40 minutes of me just laying there collecting my thoughts, daydreaming, and thinking about all the great things to come.
pregnancy-guide-serum
Essence:
My beloved Shark Sauce all the way. I usually do multiple essences and serums, but I was just not up for the task for the first three months. Thank the skincare gods for Shark Sauce being such a powerhouse, it really carried my skin on through the tough times and brought me out to the other side still glowing.
pregnancy-guide-emulsion
Emulsion:
Again, hard to find a formula I liked with no scent, so I ended up sticking with what I had been using before, Cosrx OIL-FREE Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion with Birch Sap. While this is fragranced, I was lucky enough that it was a fragrance that didn’t turn my stomach. If you’ve ever smelled Aveda’s Sap Moss shampoo, that is the scent almost exactly, only milder. It’s a very earthy scent and thankfully I love earthy scents and for some reason it didn’t set me off. I have a complete review of this product in the pipeline, but I will say that I absolutely love this product. I’m still using it to this day.

Oil:
I spent my first trimester in the midst of a really frigid winter, so as wonderful as my Cosrx oil-free lotion is, it wasn’t cutting it for my dry skin all alone. Keep in mind I was out walking in temperatures like -20 with nasty winds whipping around, so this is not knocking the Cosrx at all, it was just used in extreme conditions. To supplement my lotion I would alternate between adding Holy Snails Perseids Oil or Whamisa Organic Flowers Facial Oil (get 15% off your order with my referral code http://i.refs.cc/Mxk05ta7 !), two excellent oil blends. Sometimes I would apply it directly on the face and sometimes I’d mix it right in with Cosrx lotion depending on how I was feeling. They both worked great! If your skin isn’t dry like mine, or if you’re going through a summertime pregnancy, feel free to skip this step, but for me it was a necessity. Both of these oils are almost entirely without a funky smell, unlike a lot of other oils that I regularly use. I was thankful they worked perfectly without any offensive odour. I have heard of other expectant moms who have had great success with combining oil with a derma roller to give them a glowy complexion.ljh-tea-tree-cream
Cream:
LJH Tea Tree 80 Cream
With early pregnancy sometimes comes hormonal acne, with acne comes irritation. Hit back with it’s arch enemy, tea tree. LJH Tea Tree 80 Cream is made with 80% tea tree extract, a powerful combatant of irritation, and natural antiseptic. Tea tree oils and extracts have been used since ancient times to treat cuts, abrasions, and other maladies of the skin, it’s got a serious track record. I was happy to have a no nonsense cream that would address hydration as well as the trouble my poor hormonal skin was facing. This cream did it all, and I couldn’t have been happier with it.
Available at Memebox here (where at the time of publication, is on sale for $35!)

And for Canadians at Bisou here So that sums up my first three months! Everyone’s experiences vary, but this routine is what worked for me and my particular needs and concerns. Remember, you don’t have to be pregnant to enjoy these products, every single one of them are top notch, knocked up or not 😉

GET BACK ON TRACK WITH THESE K-BEAUTY SUPER PERFORMERS

Get Back On Track With Korean Beauty
So you’ve been slacking. Maybe you’ve been ill. Maybe you’ve been lazy. Maybe you’ve been down in the dumps, hell, maybe you’ve been trapped at the bottom of a dump, it doesn’t matter. None of that matters. What matters is you’re here now, and you’re ready to get back on top of shit like the boss that you are. But alas, any kind of skincare slacking is going to have a negative affect on your skin.  Think of it like being a peak athlete and then stopping your training, you’re going to start things out better than the general population, but you’re still going to have to put in some work to get back on top of your game. The good news is, with skincare and especially with K-beauty, there are some skincare equivalents to the Konami cheat code that can give you a huge boost in getting back to where you want your skin to be! And it’s easier than:
the-code

I’ve put together a list of my favs that can work some fast miracles in restoring your skin to it’s former glory.  Another selling point? These products also work great for beginners looking for instant results! So be sure to pass these along to the skeptical K-beauty newbs in your life that you want to convert over to the good side 😉

I’ll be showcasing goodies that help boost that moisture barrier you should be doing nothing short of babying at all times.  Seriously, at all times. All. Times. All the times, people! 😉

Dr G Brightening Peeling Gel
So, you’re dry, haggard, and flaky. Makeup is sticking to every little dry skin flake and your complexion is dull as Deborah in the HR department. A scrub would be too harsh, especially if you’ve not been being nice to your skin and moisture barrier. A perfect gentle alternative? A gommage. The perfect gommage? Dr. G. Brightening Peeling Gel.
I’m a fan of a good gommage. We used them a lot when I was in school learning to be an aesthetician. A lot of people like to poo-poo peeling gels because they wrongly think they’re being duped into believing that the little balls of gel are their dead skin cells coming off. It’s not true. The little balls are merely the product balling up, and when coupled with the light friction of your fingers making a circle motion, it’s picking up your dead skin along with it. From there a more glowing, smoother, skin emerges from underneath the trash heap you’ve cultivated on your face. (Hey, it’s harsh but it’s true, and I’ve been just as guilty of it at certain times in my life!). Dr G Brightening Peeling Gel works better than any other I’ve tried, this is a high-end quality product. Other peeling gels/gommages I’ve tried have too much slip in them, so they don’t ball up as nicely, and are therefore not as effective at removing your dull skin buildup. Dr G’s has just the right texture to get the results desired. And although chemical exfoliation is always best, sometimes you just really need the instant results of a manual, so I strongly recommend you always have some of this stuff on hand. I find it especially helpful for the aforementioned problem of having cakey makeup build-up when applying your foundation or bb cream. This eliminates that problem and leaves you with a smooth, bright, glowy canvas for your makeup. You may even be inspired to skip your bb cream after using this gel!

shark sauce holy snails
Holy Snails Shark Sauce
Have you heard the good word? Have you converted to the religion sweeping the K-beauty nation that is the indie Holy Snails brand? Woooooo, let me tell you, Shark Sauce is my new lord and skin saviour! I will stand up and testify to this until I drop dead. Following the tenants of K-beauty, listening to what the consumers have been begging for, and then delivering it to us straight from her divine hand, Chel of Holy Snails has turned a small DIY business into a cult classic. Guys, this is the hipster d-bag equivalent to hearing the next Beatles at their first underground show in someone’s shitty dive bar. Get in on the ground floor with this stuff! It is life changing. Here is my own personal Shark Sauce story. I was going through a time of immense stress,  my lupus was attacking my skin, and I had been so sick that I had all but stopped caring for my skin. I was experiencing the worst breakout of my adult life and my skin was sallow as a sick hog. The breakouts had lead to some post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation, which is something I never experience. I was at my skin rock-bottom.  Desperate to get back on track I reached out and touched faith in the form of Shark Sauce. No lie, you guys, within a single month, my skin was back to near normal. Acne gone. Marks gone. Complexion revitalized. Dryness gone. Within two months? My skin had never, ever been better. This magic potion delivered me from skin sin and exalted my ass straight to skin nirvana. If you’re my real life friend you’ve already heard me waxing poetic about this stuff, and now my dearest readers, I’m passing the knowledge on to you. I feel very similarly about Holy Snail’s other products as well, so far I haven’t found a thing I don’t absolutely love (particularly loving Snowbang and Persieds oil as well). Trust me, I get no money from this endorsement this is just pure unadulterated praise, joy, and truth coming from me. Heaven is a little plastic bottle. papa recipe bombee honey mask
Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Mask
There’s nothing like a sheet mask to kick things into high skin gear. All the benefits of a facial delivered directly into your skin in the comfort of your own home (or in a plane, on a train, in a box, with a fox, ect. ect.). What I love about the Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Mask is found right in it’s name, the honey. It even smells like pure honey goodness. Nourishing, antiseptic, ancient food of the Gods, honey. Honey is the fourth ingredient in this mask and you will smell that fact that minute you rip into the package. The sweet, sweet, honey aroma pleasantly lingers during the entire duration of your sheet masking session. I don’t know how you can come away from that in a bad mood and or not feeling like a God/Goddess. And the mask itself? Absolutely SATURATED with essence. This is one of the most soaked in serum sheet masks I have ever tried. Imagine if the word “waterboarding” was actually a really pleasant awesome thing, then this is how you’d describe this mask. You are definitely getting your money’s worth of product in this baby. There’s so much extra essence that you can apply it to the neck, chest, and even the shoulders (shit, if you’re really thin probably your legs too). This is just brimming with goodness. Your skin will be plumper, glowy, hydrated, and lost in honey dream come true. I am always sure to have one of these masks on hand for rainy days, both metaphorically and literal. There’s no nicer way to spend 20 minutes and thankfully for skin that is in need of extra help, there’s no kinder way to spend it either.

goodal mild protect suncream spf50
Goodal Mild Protect Natural Filter Sun Cream SPF50+ PA+++
To finish it all up, you need a good sunblock. And if you’ve fucked up your moisture barrier you need a high performing, but mild one. Goodal Sun Cream is my favourite pick to fit this bill. This is a full spectrum, full physical sunblock, so if you’re sensitive to chemicals (I know I sometimes am particularly sensitive to chemical sunblocks around my eye area) this is an excellent choice. It smells like a flower garden, so if you’re into florals and hate that typical sunblock scent, once again, we have a winner. My favourite part about this sunblock is that it contains no alcohol. Alcohol itself is not that big of a deal in skincare products, but if you’re already dry and irritated, it can become a problem and make you instantly flaky and leave your skin very angry. And of course some people just can’t tolerate it under any circumstance, so if you’re on the hunt for sun protection sans alcool, your search is over. This sunblock manages to give extremely thorough high SPF protection, without the funky smell, no irritation, and with an essentially undetectable white cast. You can’t ask for much more in your sun protection, this is an excellent product and will protect you with all of the dedicated fervor of a bodyguard that’s fallen in love with you.

BLITHE TUNDRA CHAGA PRESSED SERUM REVIEW

Blithe pressed serum
Glow Recipe’s curation skills are always on point. I don’t know how these ladies do it but they continually pick diamonds that my skin loves out of an overwhelming sea of mediocre products.  So, no surprise to me, they’ve  once again, they’ve come through with another must have winner. This time it’s the Blithe Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum.
Pressed serum? Yep! You may have seen it when the Glow girls were on Shark Tank last month! (They made a deal with Robert btw, the nicest shark of the bunch IMO 😉

A little about the chaga pressed serum from their website.

The Gist:

A serum and moisturizer combined in a ‘pressed serum’ format that is packed with 60% Chaga Mushroom extract harvested from the tundras.

Also available in a special K-beauty ‘Shark’ set here.
Curious about the pressed serum trend? Read our blog post here

How it works:

Chaga Mushroom extract, cooled instead of heat-processed to preserve the original nutrition, is combined with a blend of fermented oils including olive and argan oils. This easy-to-use serum and moisturizer in one treats, nourishes and brightens skin without heaviness.

Free of:
Parabens, Synthetic Dyes & Fragrances, Mineral Oils.”
Pressed serum is totally new to me, and I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it, but I have to tell you, I  absolutely loved this pressed serum texture. It really is like a light moisturizer, with custardy texture, but chocked full of skin beneficial ingredients.
blithe pressed serum open
It’s extremely soothing, which is much needed during this time of year. You east coasters really could have used this during that hellacious winter storm, let’s put it that way. I’ve been layering it on top of the Blithe Vital Treatment Pulp Essence during the day and Holy Snail’s Shark Sauce at night. These combinations have been a breakthrough for my skin which was really acting up lately due my illness and the incredible cold snap we’ve had. I have to walk 2 miles a day in this weather so my skin really takes a beating during the harsh winters here.  I can’t half-ass my skincare, it takes high quality products to build up my moisture barrier and keep it from drying out. This serum is one such product. The custard texture glides on the skin and leaves it plump and hydrated. It’s odor-less, and very rich without being heavy. The texture is really divine.
blithe pressed serum swatch
I really wish there were more products with this texture, it’s something I have really been missing in my routine.  It also has some really great ingredients as you can see here.
Inonotus Obliquus (Mushroom) Extract(60%), Water, Glycerin, Diglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Triethylhexanoin, Polyurethane-39, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Cedrus Atlantica Bark Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Alteromonas Ferment Extract, Sparassis Crispa Extract, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Lecithin, Butylene Glycol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Polyacrylate-13, C12-16 Alcohols, Caramel, Palmitic Acid, Pentylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Polyisobutene, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Potassium Hydroxide, Adenosine, Polysorbate 20, Disodium EDTA, Dipropylene Glycol, Methyldihydrojasmonate

I recently attended a local artisan faire and there were several pop up shops for locally made skincare. Every single one of them had a chaga product! They even had dried chaga tea. It’s been used since antiquity as a folk remedy, and it’s even been used for it’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties medicinally. It’s touted as an immune boosting superfood, but that’s if it’s ingested. I’m not sure of the actual benefits of applying it topically, all I know is it’s worked wonders on my ravaged skin and has become an integral part of my new harsh weather skincare regime. In short, I can’t tell you exactly why, it just really works beautifully for me. Whatever voodoo magic is going on, keep it up Blithe.

I really love this product layered with other essences or ampoules, but you could also use it solo and still get great benefit. If you are interested in the companion essence, BLITHE Vital Treatment Pulp Essence, let me quickly  tell you a bit about it. It’s absolutely packed with extracts. Butylene Glycol and water don’t even show up on the ingredient list until #8 and #11 respectively as you can see from the ingredients list here:

Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract(22.844%), Ceratonia Siliqua (Carob) Fruit Extract(9.665%), Phaseolus Radiatus Seed Extract(9.665%), Arachis Hypogaea (Peanut) Fruit Extract(9.665%), Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract(9.665%), Phaseolus Angularis Seed Extract(9.665%), Phaseolus Vulgaris (Kidney Bean) Seed Extract(9.665%), Butylene Glycol, PEG-32, Glycerin, Water, 1,2-Hexanediol, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Polyglutamic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Potassium Hydroxide, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Citrus Limon(Lemon)Peel Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Caramel, Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Mannitol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract, Carbomer, Polysorbate 20, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7. Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil
blithe_vital_treatment_8_nourishing_beans_1024x1024
It has absolutely no scent and goes on very smooth without any overly slick or greasy feel. It also has almost no acne triggers or irritants, it’s a powerful essence and it wold work great for oilier skins and drier skins alike. Again, I love it paired with the pressed serum but if you wanted to use this alone, especially if your skin is oily and you hate the feel of serums, this would be one to definitely check out.

And my favourite part, Glow Recipe has offered to give you 15% off your order if you order through my link! Yay to saving money!

BLOSSOM JEJU PINK CAMELLIA SOOMBI BLOOMING CREAM & ESSENCE SERUM REVIEW

blossomjejupinkcamelliasoombibloomingcream
There are some creams that feel like an indulgence. They feel like you’re doing something for your skin that’s almost sinful it feels so luxurious. Sulwhasoo is one of those creams, as is It’s Skin Prestige Creme Ginseng D’escargo,  I’ve also discovered another cream to join their lofty ranks, Blossom Jeju Pink Camellia Soombi Blooming Cream, a recently curated treasure at Glow Recipe.

The ingredient list is the first hint as to why this cream is a top spot earner for me

Camellia Japonica Flower Extract(54.72%), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Water, Glycerin, Camellia Japonica seed oil(5.41%), Pentylene Glycol(EcoCert®, Natural Origin), Niacinamide, Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Phosphatidylcholine, Phytosteryl Macadamiate, Propanediol(EcoCert®, Natural Origin), Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) Butter, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Xanthan Gum, Akebia Quinata Extract, Panthenol, Tocopherol, Arginine, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Squalane, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Centella Asiatica Extract, Betaine, Bisabolol, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Trehalose, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Bioflavonoids, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Adenosine, Opuntia Ficus-Indica fruit Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Sorbitan Caprylate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Linoleic Acid, Hizikia Fusiforme Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Leaf Extract, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Skin Extract, Yeast Beta-Glucan, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Pueraria Lobata Root Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Silybum Marianum Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract, Levulinic Acid, Rutin, Astaxanthin, Quercetin, Fragrance

Notably the first ingredient is Camellia Japonica Flower Extract, which you can read more about herehttp://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3127137/ ,it’s followed closely three ingredients later by Camellia Japonica Seed Oil. Both of these ingredients help to give this cream lots of luxurious cushiness.

It’s absolutely packed with a lot of really nice emollients and antioxidants and has hardly any acne triggers, (if that’s important to you, check out how it’s rated on COSDNA here http://www.cosdna.com/eng/cosmetic_1a15200157.html ).

Another thing that really amps up the luxuriousness of this product is the smell. Ohhhhhhh my god, the smell. Excuse the overly flowery language, but it brings to mind my childhood summers in the south spent hovering around honeysuckle bushes, plucking their blooms and drinking their nectar. It’s just really a thing of beauty. If you can get an old-pro consumer like me excited about a smell, bruuh, you’re doing something right.

Even the jar is wonderful. It’s a heavy, sturdily manufactured opaque glass jar with a rose gold/pink screw top. It looks so pretty on my dressing table (shallow, but like I said with the It’s Skin cream, something a highly visual person like myself appreciates).

Of course all of those things don’t mean squat if the cream doesn’t function well. Thankfully this stuff performs like a true champ. My skin was very, very happy using this cream. It was plump, hydrated, and always glowing. This is a wonderful cream to seal in the moisture you’ve pumped into your skin during your K-beauty skincare routine. It has that whipped, buttery consistency, like you find in the the Sulwhasoo and It’s Skin Prestige Creme Ginseng D’escargo creams. That is always something I look for in a luxury cream. I love massaging this into my face, especially at night since the scent is such a nice thing to smell before bed. It’s also great as a day cream, especially for those of you going for a more matte look, as this doesn’t have the same kind of sheen that’s present in the It’s Skin and Sulwhasso creams, but still gives you all of the great hydration!
blossomjejupinkcamelliabloomingcreamswatch
With it’s gorgeous smell, feel, and most importantly, performance, I can’t recommend this highly enough if you’re looking for a moderately priced luxurious topping to both moisturized and seal in moisture, give this pretty little thing a try!

There’s also the essence serum in the same line that I’m loving.
From the Glow Recipe website

This delicate essence is so unique in that it feels light as air upon contact with your skin providing an instant dose of noticeable moisture. Formulated with 82% Oleic Acid, also found within our own skin, Camellia Oil is absorbed almost immediately upon contact with the surface of skin, leaving behind no greasy residue or feel, making this dose of hydration and protection feel as natural as your own skin
blossomjejupinkcamelliasoombiessenceserum
I can confirm this stuff does indeed absorb quickly, which is nice when you’re sleepy and don’t want to massage forever to make sure your serum is absorbed before hitting your next step. It also feels incredibly light yet skin plumping. Both me, and my oily skinned husband have been enjoying/fighting over this serum! In fact, he’s asked me to go ahead and order another bottle for him. This serum has ZERO acne triggers, and it packed full of moisturizing ingredients, emollients, and even has some ingredients with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties (see here http://cosdna.com/eng/cosmetic_1443195767.html).

I would definitely give this essence serum and the cream  five out of five turtles, it compliments the cream so incredibly well, they’re a fine, fine duo! This would make a great indulgence for yourself or a wonderful gift for someone special. It would work for just about any skin type and the fragrance is like a trip to paradise.
