3 CONCEPT EYES FACE GLOW REVIEW

3concepteyesfaceglow

Well, I might as well complete the 3 Concept Eyes highlighter trifecta with today’s review (insert Legend of Zelda triforce joke here).

3 Concept Eyes Face Glow is a liquid “volumer” type product that was first made really popular with the Etude House Nymph Aura Volumer. I’ve talked a bit about volumers here before but I’ll go ahead and give a quick refresher course if you’re not familiar with them. A volumer is a product that’s usually about the consistency of a foundation. You can wear it alone as a highlighter or mix it with your bb cream or foundation to give you that dewy glow that’s so popular in Korea. It’s actually popular here as well, I just don’t see it on the street as often as I see it being used very obviously in film and television. Volumers are usually offered in a couple of different shades, like here with 3 Concept Eyes they have three different colours. There’s Bondi Beach the golden colour, Monaco the golden pink hue that I have for this review, and Santorini the pearlescent white shade.
3concepteyesfaceslowswatch1This comes in a convenient airless pump that dispenses just the right amount of product with each squirt. The product itself goes on smoothly and is about the consistency of a lotion. It spreads about as easily as one as well.
3concepteyesfaceglowswatch

I have to say I like this product much better when used as a highlighter than mixed with bb cream. I find that it loses a lot of it’s sheen when mixed. As you can see here in the swatch it does have a descent amount of shimmer. As a highlighter it’s pretty, but yet again, not quite strong enough for me. Of the two other 3 Concept Eyes highlighting products I’ve reviewed, this one is most certainly the strongest and therefore the best in my opinion. Now, keep in mind my standards are very high when it comes to highlighters. This may well be perfect for those that don’t chase the shimmer dragon like I do. But for me, this is a mid level performer. However, I must say, the colour selection for this line is gorgeous! If only Monaco were a bit stronger, this would be a must have. Still, not a bad product to have on hand. You could get some nice looks out of this. I’m going to give this product 3.5 out of 5 sparkle turtles.

3 CONCEPT EYES MARBLE HIGHLIGHTER REVIEW

3concepteyesmarblehighlighter

Since the other 3 Concept Eyes Highlighter  I reviewed before didn’t wow me, I didn’t go into this review with the highest of hopes. From the pictures I had seen online, 3 Concept Eyes Marble Highlighter looked a lot like one of my favourite products, Mac Minerlized Skinfinish. That was enough to pique my curiosity and let me go ahead and try this one out in good faith. As I’ve mentioned before, 3CE brand is something akin to MAC cosmetics in it’s branding. It definitely has a more limited range than MAC, but kind of targets the same demographic. The price point is lower than MAC, but also a little higher than some of it’s Korean peers. This comes in only one shade, Bling Peach.

3concepteyesmarblehighlightercomp

First thing’s first. Straight away I noticed this was a lot smaller than the Mineralized Skin Finish. As you can see, it’s actually the exact same size as MAC’s baked blushes. I’m not sure if I’m annoyed by that or not. What am I annoyed by was how impossible it was to get a decent swatch. Once again, for the life of me I could not accurately showcase this thing. What I can say is, it’s definitely head and shoulders above than the 3 Concept Eyes Highlighter. At the same time though, it’s also a head below my beloved Mineralized Skinfinish.

That is basically how it looks when worn alone. I’m not sure if my skintone is the culprit or what, but I just couldn’t grab a great picture. It’s devoid of any chunky glitter (thank you Yeezus) and applies very smoothly and nice. It gives a nicer sheen than shown in the picture but is nowhere near as lovely as shown on the Style Nanda website (how utterly gorgeous is that model? Park Sora, slay). I can say though that when I pair this with blushes and bronzers it really sets them off nice. This is what I wish the pervious Highlighter I reviewed was like. It performs much better than that one, but not well enough to wear alone like the Skinfinshes. I do have to say though, I reach for this a lot more than I thought I would. I’m always happy when a product calls for me like that. This is good for casual daytime looks. I can’t be without my beloved glow, but shining like a superstar isn’t always appropriate, so this is a nice compromise for those times.

I think the 3 Concept Eyes Marble Highlighter deserves 3.5 out of 5 turtles.

ELISHA COY MILK CACAO BLACK SUGAR SCRUB REVIEW

ElishaCoyMilkCacaoBlackSugarScrub

Elisha Coy Milk Cacao Black Sugar Scrub is the most delicious thing I’ve never eaten. Note I said “never eaten”, as this isn’t something you ingest, it’s something you luxuriate in. If you don’t come away from the experience of using this feeling like a pampered Royal from the Kingdom du Chocolat then you might not be human.*

*Ok, I admit you may be human but you’ve got something wrong with the wiring in your brain 😉 In all seriousness though, if you’re not a fan of chocolate, you most certainly won’t enjoy this product. It’s a chocolate bomb, in the worst way possible if you’re not a fan of cacao but in the best way possible if you are.

Let’s take a look at the description.
ElishaCoy’s Milk Cacao Black Sugar Scrub is perfect for the removal of blackheads and keratin on the face thanks to its black sugar ingredients that serves as a superior pore cleanser. It is made from cacao that is rich in polyphenols and is excellent for buildup removal and increased skin elasticity. It thoroughly removes wastes starting deep within the skin, all while nourishing and moisturizing the skin leaving it soft, supple, and resilient. Organic ingredients such as celery, white cabbage, brown rice, tomato and carrot extracts are also used for an all natural cleansing experience. Suitable for all skin types, especially those with sensitive skin. ”
First of all, I’d like to amend that last part for them. I wouldn’t say “especially those with sensitive skin” because no matter how gentle this is, it’s still a manual exfoliator scrub. There’s almost no way to make one of these suitable for everyone. There are some skins, especially those with conditions like rosacea, that absolutely should not use these kinds of scrubs. No matter how you slice it, you’re still irritating your skin when you use a scrub. That being said this is definitely more on the gentler side when it comes to scrubs. It’s very emollient and rich. The sugar crystals contained within aren’t the jagged skin terrorist monsters like the ones contained in say, an apricot scrub are. You should still take care when using this. It’s very easy to get carried away by the scrumptious smell and over do it here. It’s certainly an exercise in temperance, because sometimes I just want to scrub forever. Also another tip I’d give to make this less harsh for those of you with sensitive skin is to both wet your face beforehand, and then do a splash of water once again when this is on your face to soften up the sugar some more.

ElishaCoyMilkCacaoBlackSugarScrubswatch

This comes in a heavy glass container but the tub itself is smaller than I expected. For some reason I had it in my head this was going to be a big ole’ thing, but it’s a petite jar (full of heaven). Application is dreamy, creamy, and delicious. As you can see in the picture it goes on a rich dark chocolate brown but once scrubbed it turns into a divine chocolate cake batter colour and texture. Like I said earlier, it’s a struggle to not over do it with this because it just feels and smells so good. Once it’s rinsed you’re left with a lovely glowing skin that feels soft and smooth. Although I use this sparingly, maybe once every few weeks, this is one of my favourite indulgences in my skincare regime. I give Elisha Coy Milk Cacao Black Sugar Scrub 5 out of 5 yummy turtles.

NATURE REPUBLIC PROVENCE TWO WAY PACT REVIEW

naturerepublicprovencetwowaypact

With my dry to normal skin, I realize I’m not the best person to review a powder, but I wanted to test drive a more matte face than I normally do and this fit the bill.

The Nature Republic Provence Two Way Pact SPF50+ PA+++ is a powder in a pretty, floral, geometric compact. I would be lying if I said I didn’t choose this one on design alone. Don’t judge, you know we’re all guilty of that from time to time 😉

There’s not a whole lot to say about this product honestly. It’s available in two shades, #21 light beige and #23 natural beige. Here I have #21.

NatureRepublicProvenceTwoWayPactSwatch2

The powder is sheer and does a nice job of setting your bb cream or foundation. I don’t really get much shine in the winter time so I can’t really speak to it’s oil control properties but I can say my face stayed very matte all day. This also claimed to be somewhat moisturizing, which was good news for my skin type. I’m not sure if it actually was, but it certainly wasn’t drying. If your skin is in good condition I could see this being used on top of your sunscreen on lazy days when you don’t want to do full face makeup. And of course as always, I’m a big fan of the high SPF protection this provides. In addition to that, I love that this contains rose hips and rosemary extracts. As with most Nature Republic products, it’s also free of parabens, mineral oil, and benzophenone.

NatureRepublicProvenceTwoWayPactSwatch

I’m super neutral about this product. I don’t love it or dislike it, but that’s how I feel about all powders.

I do love the compact’s design though, and I will hang on to it as a mirror. Powders are way out of my comfort zone but as far as this one goes it’s pleasant, smells nice, has some interesting ingredients, a high SPF, and did it’s job. I guess I’ll have to give this 3 out of 5 turtles.

3 CONCEPT EYES HIGHLIGHTER REVIEW

3cehighlighter

I am an addict. There I said it. I am an addict and my drug of choice is highlighters.  Really any glow products. I cannot pass up a highlighter, it is a serious problem. I remember about three years ago waiting backstage to meet Nicki Minaj and just furiously brushing Mac’s Mineralized Skinfinish in Shimpagne all over my cheeks to help compose myself (it worked and she ended up heavily complimenting my makeup to boot!). So the moral of the story is, highlighters are magical and everyone needs at least one good one.

3 Concept Eyes is a brand I’ve had my eye (my concept eye?) on for awhile now. Their minimalistic black and white packaging is so exactly my aesthetic that it just screams for me to buy it. I think the rest of North America might be catching on because I noticed they’re selling 3 Concept Eyes online at Urban Outfitters now.

3cehighlighterpic

This highlighter comes in a slim mirrored compact. It includes a small flat brush hidden away in a bottom compartment. It’s pretty great packaging design! I am kind of enamored with it. The product itself is a powder with small shimmery particles. I chose the shade Beige but it’s also available in Gold Pink.

Going back to my glow addiction, I have really high expectations when it comes to my highlighter products. I like to, in the words of Rihanna, shine bright like a diamond. What I don’t like though, is glitter. I hate glitter. I like a very specific shimmery sheen. This product does manage to avoid the glittery texture that I hate, and does provide the sheen that I like. However, I find that this is not near strong enough. It makes an extremely, extremely faint highlight. So much so that I had to struggle to get a swatch. I ended up having to show this on top of another product (a blush) to really have it capture on my camera.
3cehighlighterswatch
The colour is perfect, the sheen is great, it’s just not nearly powerful enough for my liking. That being said, it does impart and extremely natural looking highlight for cheeks and the T-zone. If you’re going for subtle then this is the product for you. It’s just not the product for me 🙁 I can’t say this is a bad or poor quality product, it’s just not what I was looking for personally. 3 Concept Eyes Highlighter gets a middle of the road 2.5 out of 5 turtles.
